A record number of vendors-and as many as 8,700 people-turned out for the 27th annual Earth Day Festival on 4/22. Despite light rain, daylong crowds thronged the sustainable-building and energy-saving displays, expanded “green car” show, and inventors’ and entrepreneurs’ booths. Particularly popular was a bicycle that demonstrated how much energy is required to produce and deliver a locally grown apple compared to one imported from overseas.
