The Goleta City Council unanimously agreed on 5/7 that diminished visual aesthetics for freeway drivers and railroad riders would not impede development of the Village at Los

Carneros. Planners also assured the council that they could re-categorize most of the unavoidable Class 1 impacts – including traffic noise on bike and pedestrian pathways – to a less significant level. The Village project plans to build up to 275 houses, condos, and apartments on 66 undeveloped acres northwest of Los Carneros Road. The council will accept written comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Report until May 24.
