Just Play Music’s Employee Pick of the Week:
Battles, Mirrored
This eclectic and experimental band was picked by employee Andrew Harvey, who admits this band to be a strong representative of his favorite musical genre. “[Battles] is really weird, so I was attracted to the CD:they have a really refined and well done sound. It clunked me,” Harvey said. Mirrored was heavily influenced by psychedelia and has an intricate and uplifting vibe to it. And, according to Harvey, “it’s something you can do drugs to.”

Morninglory Music’s Employee Pick of the Week:
Jah Batta, Argument
Dave Esquer, an avid reggae fan, highlighted this CD with special emphasis on Batta’s vocal and lyrical talents. According to Esquer, Argument, though still rooted in the recycled-yet-catchy reggae sound, has that something extra that puts Batta above the rest. “The vocals stray from what’s usually done:he has a new twist to it,” Esquer said. This cool low-fi dub sound, “is good for kickin’ back with the windows rolled down after a long day of surfing,” he said.
