Baby Bistro Brands, based in Santa Barbara, announced the second edition of the Baby Bistro Box, which provides recipes for infants along with nutritional information and shopping tips, on cards organized by the child’s age. The first edition of 5,000 boxes, released in 2003, sold out, according to author Christina Schmidt, and was followed by the release of the Toddler Bistro Box in 2005. The kit is being promoted as a contribution to solving the problem of increasing childhood obesity, as well as a convenience for busy parents, and it is carried by Whole Foods Markets southwest region as well as baby and maternity stores nationally. In Santa Barbara, Chicken Little and Due Maternity, both located on State Street near its intersection with Anapamu Street, carry the Bistro Boxes. A Santa Barbara native and UCSB graduate, Schmidt has a Masters in Dietetics, Nutrition and Food Science from Cal-State Northridge. www.babybistrobrands.com
