Assemblymember Pedro Nava announced on 2/22 the introduction of three bills designed to provide further protection against sexually violent predators. The bills-which, respectively would keep juveniles’ sex crimes on their records past age 18, unseal juvenile records of sex crimes when assessing an individual’s eligibility for commitment programs, and protect the identity of those testifying in civil sexually violent predator proceedings-have earned support of both the Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney’s office.
