Cheaper Energy From Beyond Edison?
Feasibility Study Searches for Less Expensive Green Energy
Can the City of Santa Barbara get more green energy for the same price or less than what is currently offered by Southern California Edison? The city council is interested enough in the answer to participate in a feasibility study to determine whether they can do better by aligning with municipalities such as Ventura or Goleta. Currently, 17 percent of the city’s energy comes from green sources via Edison. The study will determine how much it would cost to go outside Edison and obtain more alternatively produced fuels. By joining with other cities, the theory is that the costs and risks associated with this could be minimized.
