Jason Mraz says his newest album, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things, includes 12 tracks of “self-realization, self empowerment, and self-improvement,” explaining that he “was happy to be able to write an album at the same time I was coming back to Earth.” It’s been three years since the unarguable success of Mraz’s last release, Mr. A-Z, and this time around the singer/songwriter transforms his signature clever wordplay into full-fledged pop melodies. Like a summer breeze, We Sing, We Dancemoves forward by way of Mraz’s sensual voice and delicate strumming. The album also features Colbie Caillat’s perfectly matched accompaniment on “Lucky.” A gentle romantic side is revealed in the disc’s first single, “I’m Yours.” Still, “The Dynamo of Volition” proves that Mraz hasn’t completely abandoned his hip-hoppy roots.
