No matter who one plans to vote for November 4, now that the seemingly endless campaign is about to close, we could all use a drink. That’s where Ty Lounge at the Biltmore (1260 Channel Dr., (805) 565-8513) asks for our vote.

“Election Day is such an important one for Americans and we wanted to do something special to acknowledge it and to honor the tradition,” explained sous chef Tony Martindale. “No matter which side you’re on, good food and good drinks are something that we can all connect over. We decided to create a featured cocktail and special appetizer menu that showcases American favorites and comfort foods from around the country or that you might find anywhere in the USA.”

That means one can down, all in the name of patriotic duty, a Stars and Stripes cocktail, made with Pearl Coconut Vodka, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, Cointreau, raspberry syrup swirl, and fresh coconut garnish. Fittingly for a resort perched on the ocean, the drink has a bit of a tropical air.

As for the food, special appetizers will include All American Black Angus Sliders, Goat Cheese Fritters, Aged White Cheddar and Black Truffle Mac and Cheese, and Maryland Mini Crab Cake with Remoulade Sauce.

Looking over that list, one assumes Chef Martindale is a bit too modest claiming this is a menu “you might find anywhere in the USA.”
