SBCC Snowboarder Died of Hypothermia
Pleasanton Native Had Recently Moved to Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara resident Aline Christina Martins died February 16 while snowboarding at the Dodge Ridge resort in Tuolumne County. An autopsy this week determined that the woman died from hypothermia, not suffocation, as was previously suspected. She was discovered just feet from the main ski trail, but not in an area that was deemed safe for skiing. Martins, 19 and had just recently moved from her native Pleasanton to attend Santa Barbara City College. She was born in Brazil and had just received official U.S. citizenship.
