The Santa Barbara Conservancy’s Stone Architecture in Santa Barbara: As intertwined as the Spanish red-tiled roof and white-washed wall formula is to our town, no one can deny the importance that locally sourced sandstone has also played in the architectural development of Santa Barbara. This photograph-loaded book is a testament to that chiseled past, and features historic looks at the building of the bridges, homes, and public squares, as well as portraits of the men and women behind them. What better way to welcome its publication than by celebrating at the book’s Thursday, May 7, reception, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at Casa de la Guerra (9 E. De la Guerra St.), where an accompanying photo exhibit is housed. Visit sbconservancy.com for event details.
