Perched at the Corner of Wine and Cheese
The Canary Offers Monday-Night Wine-and-Cheese Tastings
If Mondays always get you down, The Perch at the Canary Hotel (31 W. Carrillo Street, 879-9100, canarysantabarbara.com) hopes to lift you up with its Monday-night wine-and-cheese tastings, 5:30-8 p.m. There’s no better spot in town to take in the sunset than the rooftop of the Canary, and to get to do so while munching scrumptious cheeses and tasting fine wines only adds to the glory. This upcoming Monday, June 14, the featured winery will be Whitcraft, known for its pinot noir ages before Paul Giamatti first slurred in Sideways, not that you should cover your glass if they pour their chard, syrah, or even better, limited, luscious, mysterious lagrein. Upcoming tastings will feature Star Lane (6/21), Jaffurs (6/28), and Dierberg (7/12). The Canary suggests it’s best to reserve; the evening costs $20 per person, sunset included.
