A 31-year-old male accidently shot himself in the chest on 7/6, according to authorities, leading to serious but not life-threatening injuries. The man was alone when it happened, and there was no indication it was intentional, police lieutenant Paul McCaffrey said. The man was in a downstairs room in a residence off East Cota Street, and was able to crawl up steps to seek help before being transported to Cottage Hospital.
