Shipwrecked on the Gaviota Coast
No Injuries to Report as Large Fishing Boat Washes Ashore
Santa Barbara County Fire crews responded this morning to a distress call from a large fishing boat some two miles offshore of Arroyo Hondo on the Gaviota Coast. A multi-agency response that included the U.S. Coast Guard and California State Parks, as well as a County Fire helicopter, discovered the 40-foot vessel, Master Jack out of Seattle, Washington, washed ashore near Vista Point. A message written in the sand nearby alerted them to the fact that the boat’s captain had made it safely to the beach. According to County Fire’s David Sadecki, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
