On Saturday, October 2, 2010 Casa Serena will host its 2nd Annual CELEBRATE RECOVERY! Luncheon at The Santa Barbara Club.

The event, which also celebrates Casa Serena’s 51st Anniversary, will feature a silent auction and the presentation of The Mildred Pinheiro “Pillar of Strength” Award (Casa Serena’s founder) to Meredith McKittrick and Liz Hughey for their long-time dedication to women’s recovery.

To help Casa Serena celebrate its 51st birthday and honor these women, Jane Russell, star of such films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and The Revolt of Mamie Stover, and her accompanist, Peter Clark will perform. The day will close with a special guest speaker, an alumna of Casa Serena’s program.

Casa Serena opened its doors to alcoholic women in August of 1959 primarily through the efforts of our founder, Mildred Pinheiro. Casa Serena’s 2nd Annual CELEBRATE RECOVERY! Luncheon will honor the thousands of women who have walked through the doors of Casa Serena into successful, sober lives. All proceeds will benefit Casa Serena’s recovery programs for women and their children.

The luncheon will take place on Saturday October, 2 from 11:30 – 1:45 pm at The Santa Barbara Club which is located at 1105 Chapala Street. Some of the sponsors for this luncheon include Decker’s Outdoor Corporation, The Volentine Family Foundation, Venoco, Inc, Montecito Bank & Trust, MarBorg Industries, Business First Bank and Santa Barbara Bank & Trust.

Casa Serena provides treatment services to women over the age of 18 who are seeking recovery from alcohol and drug dependence. Each year 100 women and 25 children of all ethnic backgrounds from Santa Barbara County are served in one of our three residences: Main House, Grad House, and Oliver House (for mothers and their children). For 51 years Casa Serena has changed women’s lives—over 10,100 to this day.
