The Coastal Fund’s Coastal Service Program (CPS) is an organization that donates money to student organizations who participate in sponsored beach clean-ups and restoration projects throughout the community. Not only are the groups earning money and community service hours, they are performing an invaluable service for the UCSB community by helping to keep our campus beautiful.

With over 90 restorations and beach clean-ups a year, the Coastal Service Program has proved to be an easy and popular way for thousands of students to make a difference while supporting their own cause. Student organizations who have participated in CSP have picked up over 5,000lbs of trash, planted over 700 native plants, and pulled countless weeds and nonnative plants this year alone. CPS has donated over $53,000.00 to these groups since 2002. With the money that is raised many groups organize their own charity events or even cross international borders to build homes in underserved communities or donate much needed medication. The impact of this program goes far beyond taking responsibility for our local community; it enables groups to make a difference on a global scale.
