Shayan Enrico on Winter Wipeout

Santa Barbara resident Shayan Enrico needed to do something out of the ordinary with her life. So what better way to bask in some craziness than to participate in a reality TV show? The mother of two and finance director at a local law firm jumped at the opportunity to participate in the game show Winter Wipeout, a seasonally themed spinoff of ABC’s original series Wipeout.

“I just wanted to do something different — Wipeout is now crossed off of my bucket list,” she said. “I am a very conservative person, and a lot of people were surprised that I did this.” Initially, Enrico auditioned for Million Dollar Money Drop, which is a couple’s game show that she planned on doing with her sister. So, she took the bull by the horns and submitted an application. The duo ended up qualifying for an audition and Enrico was one step closer to achieving her unexpected goal.

However, since she was already that much closer to becoming a contestant on a game show, she wanted to test her luck and see if she could compete in Wipeout as it was the one show she watched with her two sons.

“I happened to ask the producer how I could get on Wipeout, and he asked if I was interested. I said yes, and I was taken for a private audition right there,” Enrico said. “You just never know if you don’t ask a question, and that’s how it worked out for me.”

Unfortunately, Enrico was unable to comment on how she faired on the obstacle courses due to a “huge confidentiality agreement” she had to sign. However, she did say that the prize of $50,000 was winner-take-all and that the courses were a lot harder than they looked. “I didn’t know what to expect — I didn’t do any kind of training!” she exclaimed.

You can root for Enrico as she battles the extreme winter wonderland of obstacles on the show’s premiere tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC.
