A Santa Barbara jury was, as of the morning of 3/2, in its third day deliberating the fates of Ruben Mize, Bryan Medinilla, Ricardo Nava, and Raul Diaz, accused in the 2007 stabbing death of 16-year-old Lorenzo Carachure. This is the second trial for the four, all juveniles at the time of the murder, after their first trial resulted in a hung jury. Mize was caught on tape by a confidential informant—his cousin—talking about the stabbing, while the informant also testified that Medinilla told him he stabbed Carachure in the stomach.
