Santa Barbara City College President Andreea Serban got some great news last week as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appointed her a commissioner to UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). Serban was ultimately chosen by Clinton after an extensive interview process to serve as one of 46 nongovernment representatives on the 65-person commission. UNESCO is a subgroup of the U.N. charged with furthering international peace and security via border-busting collaboration on education, science, and culture.
