Trial for Isla Vista Murder Suspect Will Start in August

Benjamin Vargas, accused in the stabbing death of 26-year-old Vincent Velasquez on the streets of Isla Vista in May, will head to trial in August, attorneys agreed on 6/26. Vargas, who claims he was acting in self-defense, is accused of stabbing Velasquez more than a dozen times. He pleaded not guilty to a murder charge at the hearing in front of Judge George Eskin.
