Iron Chef Cat Cora to Judge SB Chowder Fest

Santa Barbara, CA – Food Network’s Iron Chef Cat Cora has agreed to judge the 3rd Annual Santa Barbara Chowder Fest presented again this year by Food and Home Magazine to benefit Legal Aid Foundation. Cat Cora is being sponsored by Mozo; a Deckers family company.

Cat Cora’s aspirations began at an early age, and by 15, she had a business plan for her own restaurant. In 2005, Cora made history on Food Network’s “Iron Chef America” as the first and only female Iron Chef. Bon Appetit Magazine named her “Teacher of the Year” and in 2012 she became the first female inducted into the American Academy of Chef’s Culinary Hall of Fame. With restaurants at Macy’s South Coast Plaza, Walt Disney World, San Francisco and Houston airports, Cat’s bringing her culinary influence to both coasts. Cat founded Chefs for Humanity which provides emergency and humanitarian aid to reduce hunger worldwide. “I’m honored to partner with my local Legal Aid Foundation for the Santa Barbara Chowder Fest,” said Cora. “We both look after people in crisis, and coming together around food benefits us all.”

Proceeds benefit Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County.

No more Chowder entries are being accepted, however restaurants interested in participating by showcasing bite size treats are welcome to have a table for no charge until we fill capacity.

John Dickson, known to many as “The Restaurant Guy,” is currently a restaurant columnist for the Santa Barbara Independent newspaper. Previously he was a food news writer for the Santa Barbara Daily Sound newspaper for 5 years and has been running the Restaurant Guide for over 16 years. A software developer by trade, Dickson is president and CEO of Coastline Communications Corporation, founded in 1995, which provides a variety of Internet services to a global audience. In 1996 he launched the tourism service along with its widely-used restaurant guide which includes public-submitted reviews of 700 eateries from Santa Ynez to Carpinteria.
