SummerFess Celebration Kicks-Off this August

The celebration of food and wine will kick-off on Friday, August 16th, when revelers can board the Channel Cat, the world’s largest catamaran, at the Santa Barbara harbor, for a two-hour sunset cruise along the American Riviera. Guests will celebrate Fess Parker’s birthday and mingle with members of the Fess Parker family, while enjoying a broad range of Fess Parker wines and gourmet appetizers. The Fess Parker Resort on the waterfront, will offer special rates for SummerFess attendees.

On Saturday, August 17th, revelers can head to the Fess Parker Winery on Foxen Canyon Road where they’ll enjoy a Retrospective Tasting, hosted by local journalist and wine writer, Gabe Saglie, preview special wines in the recently opened VIP room, and sample foods and products by local purveyors, including Rancho Olivos, Clairmont Lavender Farm, Fork and Whisk, Jessica Foster Confections, Safford’s Chocolates, Sugar and Salt Creamery, Dey Dey’s Best Beef Ever and Georgia’s Smokehouse. Live music will be provided by Spun Honey.

On Saturday evening, guests will descend on the Fess Parker Resort on the waterfront and enjoy a four-course dinner at Rodney’s Grill. The menu will highlight three courses based upon winning recipes in the Fess Parker SummerFess Recipe contest. Still receiving entries, the contest awards winners with travel for two to Santa Barbara, accommodations at the Fess Parker Resort, tickets to all events surrounding SummerFess and the opportunity to see their recipes prepared by the resort’s chefs. The fourth course, dessert, will be based upon a Marcie Parker original recipe.

Following dinner, guests will head to the Plaza del Sol for an outdoor screening of Fess Parker’s iconic film, Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier.
