Recap: Breaking Bad, “To’hajiilee”
Walt Freaks Out, Jack Crosses Over
After Walt called Todd’s uncle Jack to say he had a job for him last week, viewers could only imagine what was in store for Breaking Bad’s next installment, “To’hajiilee.”
This week, we watch as Walt falls right into Hank and Jesse’s trap, which involves a forged photo of Walt’s hidden canister full of money. Being that the cash is the only actual evidence that can be used against Walt, we quickly find him scrambling like a maniac to get to the To’hajiilee site where he buried the money.
A constant theme that has seemed to follow Walt throughout his television existence is luck. Whenever times get especially tough, or situations turn dire, he always manages to escape — often by the skin of his teeth. In this episode, Walt more or less ‘gets out’ of a sticky situation when Jack and his gang show up on the scene.
Chaos erupts shortly thereafter, as Jack realizes he must kill Hank and Jesse in order to save the meth empire that was handed over to him. In short, the greed that long ago took over Walt’s life is now taking Jack as its next victim. At the end of it all, viewers are left not knowing who has died. Could it be Hank? Or is it Jesse? Did Hank and Marie’s goodbye foreshadow Hank’s death? Per usual Break Bad rules of engagement, we’re left hanging ‘til next week to know.
