Ben Clay, Amber Melgoza, Elysia Mitchell, and Alan Williams Honored
Amber Melgoza poured in a school-record 50 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to power the Santa Barbara girls basketball team to an 89-76 quarterfinal victory over Summit High in Fontana.
Ben Clay played a huge role for the Santa Barbara boys basketball in Division 2A playoff wins over Sunny Hills and Hart. In the 57-50 second-round win, he scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Westmont’s track Elysia Mitchell repeated at the NAIA Indoor National Championships by winning the 600 meters in 1:31.29, making her the first Warrior to repeat as national champion since Amber Nixon won the outdoor high jump in 2002 and 2003.
UCSB’s Alan Williams scored 26 points and pulled down 19 rebounds in his final regular-season game as a Gaucho.
