I appreciate the enlightening letter from Dennis Thompson regarding Plains All American’s accident record and financial position. I wanted to add that on the back of the postcard is a phone number for claims: (866) 753-3619. Because our family vacation at Refugio Beach was cancelled by Reserve America due to the spill, I contacted Plains to see what the company was willing to offer with respect to compensation. They were very easy to work with and are reimbursing $250 per person. Our family of four will receive $1,000, which we will donate to Santa Barbara County Water Guardians.

I hope that anyone who has been affected by the spill will contact the claims department and hold Plains All American accountable. Furthermore, I hope this will send a message to the oil companies that despite our inability to get Measure P passed in November, we won’t give up.
