Two Hikers Rescued on Cathedral Peak Trail
Two hikers were rescued Sunday evening after finding themselves stranded on a cliff face at the popular Cathedral Peak hiking trail in the mountains above Mission Canyon.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team responded to the call placed by the two hikers, both male and in their mid-20s, around 5 p.m., when they realized they had made a wrong turn and were unable to descend the cliff face.
Search and Rescue Team members located the men and anchored ropes to the cliff face above. The hikers, with the help of team members, rappelled down to the base of the cliff, and were accompanied by Search and Rescue on the return trip down Tunnel Trail to their car. No injuries were reported.
