Rodeo Pain

How very sad to see that our beautiful Fiesta is once again marred by hosting the rodeo. Why do we continue to celebrate Santa Barbara’s heritage by inflicting pain and torment on innocent animals? In a world that is experiencing increasing violence, what lesson are we teaching our children when we not only allow harm to sentient beings but cheer it on?

A beautiful city is more than its beaches, parks, and red tile roofs. It is the collective consciousness of its citizens. When Santa Barbara finally puts a stop to this outdated and barbaric form of entertainment, it will move forward into the 21st century.

I can hear the arguments already. Just beware. Whenever someone says, “City folks just don’t understand,” there will be a whole lot of animal cruelty to follow.
