A surveillance camera at Goleta's Golden 1 Credit Union caught a suspect apparently passing a note to a teller demanding money.

A string of bank robberies — four publicly reported since April — continued on July 7 in Goleta. A man walked into the Golden 1 Credit Union at 5676 Calle Real late in the afternoon on Friday, stated he had a weapon, and left with cash. A Sheriff’s Air Support helicopter and deputy-and-dog team scoured the area but did not locate the suspect, who is described as a heavyset, older white man with gray hair, about 5’6″ and 260 pounds. Like the man who held up two Carpinteria banks, he was wearing a black ball cap. Anyone with information concerning the robbery is asked to contact the Sheriff’s investigators at (805) 681-4150 or (805) 681-4171 anonymously.
