Gray is the owner of Gary Gray, CPA accounting firm in Santa Barbara, CA. He is a member and Immediate Past Chairman of the Board at the Santa Barbara Family YMCA and recently served as Lieutenant Governor for Division 42 of the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of Kiwanis International as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Santa Barbara.

A lifelong community volunteer in Santa Barbara, Gray first became involved with SBNC as a member of the finance committee and then as a member of the board before being elected Chair. He has had a 40 year association with the clinics as a community member and patient, as he and wife Marsha raised their two children.

“I have an understanding of the genesis of the clinics and what they wanted to accomplish in terms of public health and general welfare for lower income families and households. It’s one of the more important issues in the community,” Gray said.

He is a passionate believer in the importance of building strength in families and in the community, stating that “The more time we spend working with each other in our own town and learning about each other, the more we create valuable connections and relationships that bear fruit throughout the community. That’s why I’m involved with the Neighborhood Clinics. They provide an opportunity to build community.”

One of the Board’s objectives is to guide staff leadership through the challenges of the Affordable Care Act. Gray believes that community clinics, like SBNC, are at the very forefront of those challenges.

Other officers elected at the annual meeting were Eileen Bunning, R.N., Immediate Past Chair; Melinda Staveley, Vice-Chair, and Paul Jaconette, Treasurer.

The mission of Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics is to provide high quality, affordable, comprehensive healthcare to all people regardless of their ability to pay, especially those uninsured and otherwise underserved, while maintaining a welcoming environment and treating patients with compassion, dignity and respect.
