Santa Barbara City College President John Romo has taken steps
to add a bachelor’s degree program to the SBCC curriculum for the
first time. Students would be able to spend just three years
completing coursework both in SBCC classrooms and online with
Indiana University, which would issue the certificate. The college
has also identified a potential site for a 600-student dorm between
the Sports Pavilion and the Marine Diving building. The city has
long urged the college to help house the new residents it brings to
the city; almost 30 percent of SBCC’s 17,500 students last year
were from outside the district.
