Next Wednesday, August 22, Lisa B. Martin, founder and executive director of the Netza Project, will be the featured guest speaker at the Santa Barbara Sunrise Rotary Club breakfast meeting. The Netza Project collaborates to create equal access to quality education, literacy, and sustainable community development for all people; to honor the collective spirit of indigenous culture and celebrate diversity; and to work for social justice, cultural understanding and healing, and an end to poverty by empowering youth, women, families, and communities across ethnic and international boundaries. Martin will share stories of her journeys and efforts to create sustainable, poverty-free futures for Mexican-Aztec indigenous children and migrant families through partnership education, equal access school building, and women’s microfinance initiatives. The breakfast takes place at 7 a.m. at 1105 Chapala Street. To RSVP, contact Sister Christine Bowman at 683-6381 x106, or email info@netzaproject.org. There is a small fee for the meal.
