Montecito Association Gives Miramar Renovation Thumbs-Up
Project Headed to Montecito Planning Commission
At its January 8 meeting, the Montecito Association Board of Directors voted 12-2 in support of developer Rick Caruso’s plans for renovating the long-neglected Miramar Hotel. The association’s conceptual endorsement of the 202-room resort-with its bungalows, three restaurants, two swimming pools, and tennis court-will be passed along to the Montecito Planning Commission for when it begins its review of the project January 16. An announcement from Caruso spokesperson Matt Middlebrook expressed appreciation for the association’s support following its extensive “advice and critique” over the past year. The homeowners’ association tagged onto its endorsement a request that the planning commission “be mindful” of remaining land use issues, and Montecito Association Executive Director Victoria Greene said she and other association higher-ups will continue to examine the plan as it proceeds through the process.
