Despite rumors of end-of-the-year layoffs, Santa Barbara City College President Andreea Serban has indicated that faculty and permanent staff need not fear losing their jobs. However, due to an impending $4.8 million budget cut, she said they cut part-time and student positions. “That’s an extremely difficult cut,” she said. “Ninety percent of our expenditures are in salaries and benefits.” Currently, an analysis of the budget cut and its effect is underway.
