The Page Youth Center revealed a colorful new sign on Saturday, June 13. Santa Barbara County donated the sign, which stands on the corner of Hollister and San Antonio avenue. The Page Youth Center, a facility for youth sporting events, has served as thousands of local children since 1991.

Executive Director Bob Yost is pleased with the new addition. “It’s a fun sign,” Yost said. “It’s more festive than normal, and more geared towards the youth culture that we have here.”

Second District Supervisor Janet Wolf presented the sign on behalf of the county. According to a written statement, Wolf said she wanted to “do something great to highlight the Center,” which she described as “the focus for children’s activities in the Goleta Valley.”

The Center held a Family Festival in celebration of the unveiling of the new sign. Children and their families enjoyed food, drinks and games in the gym and on the field, as well as face painting and giant bouncers. County Firemen captivated the young athletes with a demonstration of their hook and ladder trucks, while High Rollers, a car restoration club, showcased over 15 classic cars. Yost speculated they had around 300 people coming through the center throughout the day.
