The Family School’s Dinner and Auction Rools
Features Bradley Ogden Dinner and Wonderful Local Wines
For more than 35 years, the Family School (syvfamilyschool.org) in Los Olivos has, as its mission statement claims, “provided challenging personalized academic and artistic programs that establish a strong educational foundation and inspire a love of learning.” The school also faces the challenge of all education—raising funds—and to help with that, it will hold its 28th annual auction and dinner at the Hotel Corque in Solvang on Saturday, February 6, at 5 p.m. (Tickets must be purchased in advance; call 688-5440.) Esteemed Chef Bradley Ogden of Corque has created a stunning three-course menu for the evening—that is, after the appetizer session with the yummy likes of oyster shooters with fresh wasabi and citrus ponzu among other goodies. The menu: Dungeness crab salad with sweet pepper sorbet and elephant garlic cappuccino, Santa Barbara coffee-crusted Japanese New York Strip with horseradish-spiced marble potatoes and jicama slaw (or a vegetarian option), and a chef’s seasonal surprise for dessert. It will be particularly easy to bid on all the auction items, from trips (Mammoth, Vegas, Aruba) to art, thanks to all the fine wine donated by locals, including pours from Andrew Murray, Artiste, Beckmen, Carivintas, Cold Heaven, Ethan, Firestone, Goodnight, Kenneth-Crawford, Koehler, Lucas & Lewellen, Melville, Tensley, Sanford, Standing Sun, and Tercero.
