Crown Snatched

Further to the letters “Eire Smarts” and “King Me,” does this mean I have to stop wearing my crown? I am smarting from this blow to my belief in my royal background.

I grew up with a mother, who had a voice like a silver harp, declaring (with suitable gestures), “Never forget, we are of royal blood. We belong to the O’Conor Macnessas.” Then she would add, “That’s O’Conor with one n.”

I cling to the belief that she might have meant O’Connor with two n’s, and that I might still be royal. I doubt that I’ll be able to sleep tonight. — Christina (Clancy) Allison
