While “Flights and Bites” might sound like the latest toothy-teen-angst tome from Stephenie Meyer, it’s actually something much, much better than that, although no doubt some red will get spilled. On Saturday, December 4, those who participate in this Santa Maria Wine Country extravaganza can visit four different wineries where they will taste not just the usual, usually fine wines, but perfectly matched apps, too, and I don’t mean the things you buy for your phone. The schedule is as follows: Costa de Oro Winery, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Kenneth Volk Vineyards, 12:30-2:30 p.m.; Riverbench Vineyard and Winery, 2-4 p.m.; and then Core Wine Company, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Then on Sunday, ticketholders are invited to visit other participating Santa Maria Valley wineries (including Cambria, Byron, Rancho Sisquoc, Tres Hermanas, and William James Cellars at Central Coast Wine Services) at no additional cost. The Saturday trail ends in Orcutt, so you can even dine at the very fine Trattoria Uliveto. For information or to purchase tickets ($30, advance only, and sales end Dec. 2, so move quickly!), visit smvwines.com/FlightsandBites or email info@smvwines.com.
