UCSB hosts the 8th Annual Arthur N. Rupe Great Debate this week. The event is a large-scale panel discussion during which public intellectuals Cary Nelson and Stanley Fish will talk about Academic Freedom in a Time of Crisis. Nelson is a professor of liberal arts at the University of Illinois, and Stanley Fish is a professor of humanities and law at Florida International University. The debate begins at 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, at Campbell Hall on the university’s campus. Call 893-3535 for more info.
