Rescheduled Move In Day for Max & Friends Into New Audubon Aviary is on Sunday, March 27
WHO: Max, the Great Horned Owl and Friends
– Live Birds of Prey will be present with their handlers:
o Max, Great Horned Owl
o Ivan, Red-tailed Hawk
o Kachina, American Kestrel
– Audubon Staff and Volunteers:
o Gabriele Drozdowski, Program Manager for the Eyes in the Sky birds of prey Program
o John O-Brien, Audubon Program Chair, Eyes in the Sky Volunteer, and liaison for Audubon and the Museum
o Dolores Polluck, Audubon Board Member
o New Audubon Volunteers
WHAT: In the end there was just too much rain and wind yesterday for the raptors to move into their new home. So their Move-In day has been rescheduled to Sunday, March 27.
After more than six years of planning and building, Max the Great Horned Owl, Ivan the Red-tailed Hawk, and Kachina, the American Kestral will finally move into their new home. Over the next few weeks, Tecolita, the blind Western Screech Owl, and a new Peregrine Falcon named Kisa (pronounced kee-sah, which is the Hopi word for “raptor”), will gradually move into he aviary.
Immediately following the Move-In, Gabriele Drozdowski will lead a Volunteer Orientation for Audubon’s “Eyes In the Sky” program which has provided live bird education programs to schools, community organizations, afterschool programs and other environmental non-profits for the past 10 years.
