This blog, and its founder (which is myself) have received an Online Community Building and Health Fellowship from the California Endowment Health Journalism Fellowships. It’s a feather in my cap, true, but also an opportunity to learn a host of blogging skills from people who really understand this stuff. The fellowship, offered through the Annenberg School for Communication at USC, will provide coaching and technical assistance as I, and other homeless blog writers, endeavor to chronicle the health of Santa Barbara’s homeless population.

The fellowships were given to 10 California bloggers and editors of online news Web sites and will be a partnership between Annenberg, the California Endowment, and the Renaissance Journalism Center at San Francisco State. The Online News Association is cosponsoring. Other fellows include Michael Stoll, founder and editor of SFPublicPress.org; Pascal Fusshoeller, founder and editor of Yubanet.com; and Bill Macfadyen of Noozhawk.com. You can check out their blog and Web sites, too, to see the company I will soon be keeping. To read more, see homelessinsb.org
