Despite his conspicuous silence, Santa Barbara Councilmember Dale Francisco said he is indeed running for reelection this November. The spearhead of the council’s current conservative majority, Francisco has undergone a series of personal misfortune this past year, losing his mother and two weeks ago his brother. Francisco said he’s not sure when he will officially announce his intentions, only that he definitely will. He will be running as an incumbent along with Councilmembers Randy Rowse and Michael Self. They will be facing off against three candidates already endorsed by the Santa Barbara Democratic Central Committee: Planning Commissioner Deborah Schwartz, former councilmember Iya Falcone, and former KCSB news director Cathy Murillo.
