Press Release

(Santa Ynez Valley) — Ray Lopez, Director of Circle V Ranch Camp, located across from Cachuma Lake in the Santa Ynez Valley just 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara, has announced that spaces and camperships (scholarships) are available in this summer’s remaining sessions:

Session 7—Monday, August 1 to Saturday, August 6, 2011: Circle V’s Got Talent Theme Week

Session 8—Saturday, August 6 to Thursday, August 11, 2011: Disney Theme Week

Session 9—Friday, August 12 to Wednesday, August 17, 2011: Safari Adventure Theme Week

Each Circle V Ranch Camp session is six days and five nights of traditional supervised summer fun for boys and girls ages 7 to 13. Campers enjoy activities including hiking, swimming in the new pool, learning about nature, archery, arts & crafts, painting, photography, playing games of baseball, basketball, ping pong, foosball, soccer, miniature golf and of course, campfires, skits and songs. (There is no TV, radio or internet access to affect the experience.)

According to Elizabeth Santos (fourth from left), a 12-year old camper this summer from Santa Ynez attending Circle V Ranch Camp for the third time, said her favorite things were, “Making new friends with other girls in her outfit (pictured), doing skits around the fire pit and the delicious food every day. Every parent should send their kids to Circle V!”

Campers stay in air-conditioned cabins or traditional canvas tents. Three nutritious daily meals served family-style in the Dining Lodge are a chance not only for food but also more camaraderie and fellowship. Circle V Ranch Camp was founded by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Los Angeles Council in 1945 and has been located on 30-acres in the Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara County since 1990.

Lopez remarked, “This is my 17th summer at Circle V Ranch Camp. I started as a Counselor in1993 and have been Camp Director since 2008. This summer is really special since our 40 counselors and staff have created cool theme weeks and the kids are having so much fun. We welcome campers from Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. No child is turned away due to lack of funds since we have camperships available. Feel free to contact me for more details. I know you’ll want to have your children or grandchildren come attend Circle V, then they’ll keep coming back like I did!”
