Keri Stoksatd, executive in charge of Santa Barbara Channels—public access channels 17 and 21—won the Buske Leadership award from the Alliance for Community Media. At Santa Barbara Channels, Stokstad has weathered budget cuts, a serious board upheaval, and now a move to new locations. The public access station—funded by payments from Cox Cable as part of its franchise agreement—is moving from its spacious digs in Goleta across Hollister Avenue from the Calle Real shopping center to new quarters on Salinas Street, owned by the Parker-Hutton Foundation and leased at terms designed to provide cultural non-profits a degree of financial stability the private market might not otherwise offer.
