The Capps campaign collected $321,643 during the final fundraising quarter for 2011. The campaign was supported by over 750 individual donors, with 73% contributing less than $200 and 77% of all individual contributions coming from Central Coast supporters.

Capps’ campaign has raised $1,060,863 overall for the 2012 cycle and her strong grassroots donors network continues to expand, with nearly 2000 individuals having contributed to the her campaign this election cycle. Her campaign reported ending the year with $1,035,963 cash on hand.

“This kind of broad support from across the Central Coast show that the people trust Lois Capps, know how hard she works to represent them, and understand she shares their vision for the future,” said Bill Carrick, Capps’ campaign consultant. “We are very gratified by this outpouring of support for Lois in what we know will be a tough race in this new district.”

The Federal Election Commission fourth quarter fundraising period covers activity from October 1 through December 31, 2011. The Capps committee will file its complete report with the FEC by the deadline of January 31, 2012. The report summary pages are attached.

Capps is running for reelection in the 24th Congressional District, which was recently redrawn by California’s Citizen Redistricting Commission to include all of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, and a small portion of Ventura County.

Lois Capps was first elected to Congress in 1998. She currently serves on the Committee on Energy and Commerce, where she sits on the Subcommittees on Health, Energy and Power, and Environment and the Economy. Prior to her election to Congress, Capps was a school nurse and health advocate in Santa Barbara County for 20 years.
