For the second time in two years, Winemaker Christian Garvin of Oreana Winery has agreed to part with one of his prized barrels of Santa Barbara County Syrah in order to benefit the Unity Shoppe. For $10 a ticket, the contest offers the winner a chance to become an instant winemaker, complete with his or her own custom label.

The premium French Oak barrel contains 58 gallons of award-winning Syrah wine from the vineyards of Santa Barbara. Aged for two years, the wine is ready to be bottled and will give the winner approximately 22 cases, or 268 bottles, of wine to enjoy over the years or give as gifts.

The label can feature a company logo, family pictures, family name or any other design desired by the winner. The winner will get to keep the actual oak barrel the wine was aged in for decoration or use in their garden.

Raffle tickets are available for $10 each, and in packs of 3 for $20, or 7 for $50. Tickets can be purchased at the winery tasting room and the Unity Shoppe. The winner will be chosen February 10th at the Unity Shoppe’s annual event at La Casa Nichita.

The promotion is a benefit for Santa Barbara’s Unity Shoppe charity, which has felt the pain of the recession and is struggling with declining donations. The Unity Shoppe provides clothing, food, and basic necessities to low-income families and seniors throughout Santa Barbara County.

Oreana Winery is located at 205 Anacapa Street, two blocks from the beach and two blocks off of State Street in downtown Santa Barbara.

The winery phone number is 805.962.5857. Images available on request.
