2012 was the warmest year on record in the United States. Melting polar ice caps, catastrophic storms and prolonged droughts all point to climate change as a serious international crisis with devastating consequences for human life as well as the wilderness areas and wildlife that the Sierra Club has worked to protect for more than a century.

The Santa Barbara Group of the Sierra Club of Santa Barbara is sponsoring a free public presentation on the connection between extreme weather events and human-caused global warming. This presentation entitled Climate Reality will be led by Katie Davis, a local Sierra Club member who recently trained with Vice President Al Gore as part of his grassroots Climate Leaders program.

“The impacts of climate change are accelerating as is the urgency of action. We invite the public to come learn more about the local ramifications of climate change and how we can work together to institute changes and long lasting solutions”, pointed out Jim Childress, President of the Santa Barbara Group of the Sierra Club.
