The name of the deceased is being withheld until 24-hours after next of kin notification.

Members of the 30th Security Forces Squadron and Vandenberg Fire Department responded to a 911 call made at 7:22 a.m. by co-workers of the deceased individual. They reported that the man suddenly fell to the ground while working on the new education center construction site here, gasping for breath.

“All indications were that he died of natural causes; an apparent heart attack,” said Deputy Matthew McFarlin, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office coroner. “The official cause of death will be pending a final exam by the coroner’s office.”

More information will be released as it becomes available.
