About Rockshop Academy.

Based in Santa Barbara, California, Rockshop Academy was started by Dishwalla / Penfiteen Club drummer and Mike’s Drum Shop owner George Pendergast, and David Young, the band’s former manager, who guided Dishwalla from garage band to gold records and the #1 Billboard Rock Song of the Year.

Pendergast and Young launched Rockshop Academy in 2009 to foster the next generation of aspiring musicians in the Santa Barbara area with the guidance of seasoned pros from the generation that put Santa Barbara on the music map.

We are proud to now offer weeklong Summer Camp sessions, an ongoing year-round music club, and provide a location for young musicians to show their skills in front of a live audience.

As Rockshop moves forward, teaching its students about philanthropy and caring for the community is also an vital goal. Incorporated into the program are plans to reach out to local foster youth as well as ways to address childhood hunger.

Mission Statement. Dedicated to fostering the next generation of aspiring Santa Barbara area musicians.

Rockshop Academy is sponsored by the Rudi Schulte Family Foundation
