Reality Santa Barbara moves to Santa Barbara High School
Reality has been blessed with meeting on Sundays at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) for the last 20 months. We want to say thank you to SBCC for their hospitality. Our relationship with the college has benefited both parties by allowing Reality to find a first home on Sundays in Santa Barbara and by giving SBCC additional funds for sports and other programs during tight budgetary times at the college. While we will no longer be meeting at SBCC, we trust our help thus far and future investments at the college will benefit both the SBCC and larger Santa Barbara community.
While the change is bittersweet because of the great relationship we have with our friends at SBCC, we are excited to move to SBHS for several reasons including monthly cost of approximately half as much, a more appropriate space to cultivate relationship with one another and newcomers from the community, fixed seats to reduce the weekly effort to setup and tear down for services, and improved sound and lighting. To immediately benefit SBHS, in the last few weeks we have partnered with them on several projects to help improve the theater program by upgrading the sound and lighting, and redesigning the green room.
“We are thankful for the open door we have had to meet at both SBCC and SBHS,” said Britt Merrick, Pastor of Preaching and Vision at Reality. “As a church who believes in God’s love for the world and His desire to restore all things, our hope is to positively impact and serve SBHS and the entire Santa Barbara community as those who worship at Reality live, work, play and eat together with other Santa Barbara locals and visitors.”
