Memorial Day Ceremony Set to honor Korean War 60th anniversary
The years 2010- 2013 mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, which began with North Korea’s invasion of South Korea on June 25, 1950, and ended with a negotiated armistice July 27, 1953. Coming as it did not long after World War II and ending as it did in a negotiated settlement that re-established the pre-war boundaries, it is often called “The Forgotten War.” The PCVMLF along with the Korean War Veterans Assn. are honoring the men and women who served in this conflict along with all veterans and their families on this Memorial Day.

ABOUT
The PCVM Foundation motto is “Never Forget” and on this Memorial Day the organization inaugurates a truly memorable observance to honor and keep in mind those who have served and those who have given their lives for this country. Marking the 60th anniversary of the armistice for the Korean War, this is the first local commemoration of the Korean War (June 20, 1950 – July 27, 1953) and it follows the national recognition. Highlights of this memorial are keynote speaker Brigadier General Fred Lopez (Ret) and John Ramieri, president of the Korean War Vets Assn., who remarkably served in the Navy (Seaman) and Army (PFC), will be honored. Ceremony consists of a bagpiper and live music featuring vocal soloist, choir and flutist. Vintage era aircraft will do a two fly-over’s and event will conclude with Taps played by Howard Hudson.
Thanks to Guest Speakers and Musicians: Lt Col Paul Paredes (Army), Lt JG Charles Griffin (Navy), Brigadier Gen Fred Lopez (Marines), the Honorable Lois Capps, Staff Sgt Ralph DeLaVega (Marines), Cdr Charles Huff (Navy), Sgt John Suzuki (Army), Seaman and PFC John Ramieri (Navy & Army) and Col Phil Conran (Air Force). Music provided by Bagpiper Bill Boetticher, Japanese flutist Bob Sedivy and bugler Howard Hudson. Cantor Mark Childs from Congregation B’nai B’rith and the Shira Choir will hit the high notes in patriotic songs.
