The Huber Vineyard, first planted by Norman Huber in 1987-88, is one of the oldest vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA.

Huber Vineyard is located in an ideal environment for growing cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and is a long-time fruit source for several producers in the area. The vineyard benefits from the area’s cool climate, coastal fog and sandy loam soils. It is planted to eight acres of Pinot Noir clone 115, and three acres of Pinot Noir clone 667. Additionally, the vineyard has 11 acres of Chardonnay planted to the Wente clone. Pali will create a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyard-designate from the property, as well as use some of the fruit for its “Summit” Sta.Rita Hills cuveé bottling. The Huber family will continue to produce Dornfelder from the 1.5 acres planted on the property. Pali Wine Co. will use Atlas Vineyard Management to farm the property.

“This is a great vineyard, and as we grow our brand, we are looking to secure more prime vineyard sources so that we can control the price and quality of our wine on the shelves in the long-term. Our intention is to always bring the best wine at the best prices to our customers. With increasing grape prices and less available fruit, it was time to make a move,” says Perr. “We could not be happier to have leased the vineyard from two of the nicest and most authentic people in Santa Barbara County—Norman and Traudl Huber,” he adds.
